Seit vielen Jahrzehnten habe ich meine Tätigkeiten in den Osten Europas verlagert.
Viele Konzertreisen , CD Aufnahmen, Workshops fanden und finden in Polen, der Ukraine und sogar in Russland statt. Merine Freunde leben in all diesen Ländern und meine ukrainischen Freunde sind in einer Situation, die sich wirklich niemand hat vorstellen können.
Mir fehlen dafür die Worte. Um das zu beschreiben,was die Menschen dort durchmachen fehlen uns allen die Worte.
Der Krieg hat alles verändert und doch müssen wir nach Wegen suchen , um ein ,,Danach“ zu organisieren.
Dies hier ist ein solcher Ansatz.
Er wird von sehr bekannten Ukrainischen Musikern zusammen mit den polnischen Organisatoren von Cho Jazz gestartet
We address you, colleagues, on behalf of the organizers and partners of the 𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐨-𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳 project, including the House of Culture in Chodzież ( Poland ) , the organizer of the oldest Jazz Workshops in Europe „Cho-Jazz“, and the Foundation „Hidden Dreams“, which has it’s headquarters there and has been supporting the cultural activities of this institution for years, and the „Lviv School of Jazz and Contemporary Music“ Association ( Ukraine ) .
The project „𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐨-𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳“ aims, through extensive promotional activities among jazz musicians around the world, to accumulate financial resources to support Ukrainian jazz musicians and to rebuild the Ukrainian jazz scene after the war.
Long-term partners of the House of Culture in Chodzież and members of the staff of the „Cho-jazz“ Workshops, Ms. Anastasija Litvinyuk and Mr. Igor Hnydyn are managing the project on the Ukrainian side. For the last 12 years, they have managed the organizational office of Chodziez workshops in Ukraine, where, thanks to their work, nearly 400 musicians have already participated in them. On the Polish side, Marcin Kita, director of the House of Culture in Chodzież and the organizer of the Workshops in Chodzież, is responsible for the project.
We believe that the reconstruction of the country will start quickly, but we are also sure that without the support of patronage, including the cultural communities of Europe and the world, there will be no funds for culture, hence we see the importance of projects such as ours.
We have set ourselves one more goal and although its implementation is very difficult, after preliminary research among several dozen Ukrainian jazz musicians, it turns out that the „𝐔𝐊𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐍𝐀 𝐂𝐡𝐨-𝐉𝐚𝐳𝐳“ project could start now!
We could, via the Internet and the YT channel, promote the achievements and Ukrainian jazz music today. Of course, it is about showing both small solo projects and larger ones, if at all possible in war conditions. We do not count on studio quality. It is enough to record projects with a smartphone. Also, the length of the show does not have to be a full-length concert, and the recordings of 10 and 15 minutes are enough.
We know that the state of the psyche caused by the conflagration of war will not always allow us to play music now, although thanks to the surveys we have conducted, we also know that it can be a way to fight depression and apathy, but also the possibility of earning a living, but most importantly it’s one of the ways to cultivate the culture and fight the aggressor, whose one of the brazen arguments of the invasion was that Ukrainians do not have their own culture!
Funds will be transferred for the work done, today for recordings and in the future for concerts. Also thanks to analyzes and modern technical solutions, we have solved problems with signing contracts and transferring funds the same day. We ask jazz musicians to briefly promote the project during their concerts, we appeal to the audience for support, as well as the public administration entities and culture patrons.

vom 13-22.2021
Zusammen mit seiner Frau Brianna, hat Ehud Ettun in Mitzpe Ramon, einem Ort im Süden Israels,
einen Studiengang Jazz auf hohem Niveau aufgebaut und etabliert.
Das Internal Compass Music Institute
Ehud Ettun
hat während seiner Studienzeit in Boston und seiner Zeit in NY (USA) Kontakte mit weltweit agierenden Musikern gemacht.
Er selber ist sowohl als Dozent , als auch als konzertierender Musiker, weltweit tätig.
Viele dieser Kollegen , die er auf seinen Reisen kennengelernt hat,
lädt er nach Mitzpe Ramon ein.
Diese arbeiten mit den Studenten und geben auch Konzerte in ganz Israel.
Bei einer solchen Dozenten Tätigkeit lernte Ehud Ettun
Hans Peter Salentin vor 3 Jahren in Chodziez/Polen kennen.
Dies ist wohl der größte Jazz Workshop in Polen mit zur Teit circa 200 Teilnehmern.
Ehud Ettun lud Hans Peter Salentin zu dem ,,Jazz on the Edge “Prgramm ein.
Gleichzeitig fand dann auch sowohl praktisches Arbeiten, als auch ein
Diskussionsforum mit Studierenden des Internal Compass Music Institute
zum Thema „Musik als Tool für sozialen Wandel“ statt.
Desweiteren fanden 3 Konzerte in Israel statt.
Einreise nach Israel am 11/12 und Quarantäne
Am Dienstag 13.12 fanden eine Probe mit der Big Band statt
19.30-22.00
Hans Peter Salentin arbeitete mit den Studenten
des Music Institutes an ihrem Big Band Repertoire.
Anschließend fand eine Combo Probe statt, bei der die Studenten
3 von Salentin’s Eigenkompositionen erprobten.
22.00 bis 1 Uhr Nachts.
Am Mittwoch den 14.12 fand nochmals eine Combo Probe statt und Abends konzertierten 2 Combos ( Pablo Lapidusas & HpSalentin Combo) vor interessierten Studenten und Anwohnern
aus Mitzpe Ramon
Donnerstag 15. 12 war das Konzert in Tel Aviv.
Herauszuheben wäre , neben dem Konzert und einem ausverkauften Haus, das dort spontan ein
Musiker Lenny Senderesky( Altsaxophon ) mitspielte und
das Publikum von Salentin zu einem kleinen Call und Response eingeladen wurde -(eine musikalische Interaktion mit dem Künstler und dem Publikum mittels Stimme).
Freitag 16.12 fand das Diskussionsforum mit Studenten statt.
15.00-17.00
Natürlich wurden dort auch Themen behandelt wie
praktisches Arbeiten,
Vermarktungs Tools,
und Promotion
Ein großer Schwerpunkt lag auch auf der Entwicklung eines Band bzw Solo Konzeptes und der persönlichen künstlerischen Weiterbildung.
Das Interesse war sehr groß und die Veranstaltung dauerte cirka 2 Std.
Anschließend gab Salentin noch Bläser Unterricht.
Dafür gibt es einem enormen Bedarf an dem Institut.
Samstag 17.12 war das Konzert in Jerusalem
Anschließend wies Ehud Salentin darauf hin, das es dort eine durchaus bemerkenswerte Situation gegeben hätte.
Der Percussionist Moti Abdo aus Jabel mukaber , wurde zum gemeinsamen Spiel eingeladen und trat , neben der Band mit
Heim Poskoff Israel ,Ehud Ettun Israel, Pablo Lapidusas Argentinien und HpSalentin Deutschland
und als Gast Musiker Rafael Sernecki und Adam Zagorski ( Polen ) und der besagte Percussionist, Moti Abdo auf.

,,Mir war es nicht bewußt, das dies eine außergewöhnliche Situation war.
,,Der palestinensische Musiker Moti Abdo spielt mit ect……“
Der Percussionist wurde meist bei anderen Konzerten angekündigt als ein Musiker , der aus dem und dem Ort stammt und dies eine besondere Situation war.
So tief bin ich nicht in der Materie Problematiken, zB ethnische Konflikte ect ect—–eingetaucht.
Natürlich sind mir Konfliktzonen bekannt.
Für mich war dies eine genau so normale Situation,wie die am Vortag , als der Altist einstieg.
Aber es war wohl doch eine außergewöhnliche Sache in Israel, wie Ehud mich aufklärte.
Für mich und die anderen aus meiner Band war es eine normale Situation , in der ein Musiker seine Kunst in ein Gesamtgeschehen einbringt und so eine neue musikalische Situation entsteht.
Dies ist das was wir und im besonderen ich tue:
Kommunikation auf allen Ebenen herstellen und dadurch neue musikalische Welten öffnen und dadurch auch das Verständnis für den Nebenmann/ Frau zu öffnen.
Wer so zusammen spielt, sitzt auch gemeinsam am Tisch.
Das ist nicht die Lösung aller Probleme , aber Kommunikation auf allen Ebenen schafft Wissen um den Anderen und Vertrauen.

Am Sonntag 28.12
gab es Studio Aufnahmen im eigenen Haus Studio vom Music Institute
In den unterschiedlichsten Kombinationen ( Duo,Trio, Quartett, Quintett) wurden Stücke der Festival Künstler aufgenommen.
Gegen 17 Uhr fand eine Masterclass mit Hans Peter Salentin statt :
Vodoo Session ( siehe dazu auch Bilder auf Salentin’s Webseite zu ähnlichen Verantsaltungen)
Hier war es so, das die Anzahl der Teilnehmer doch sehr groß war und darum das Kino als Ort gewählt wurde.
Die eigentliche Ringformation , die Salentin oft als Aufstellung verwendet, war so nicht umsetzbar.
Trotzdem war die Kommmunikation mit dem Publikum die Grundlage eines sehr abwechslungsreichen Musikereignisses, welches durch Salentin in verschiedenste Länder und Orte geführt wurde. Es wurde Samba gespielt und gerappt und geswingt und…….vieles mehr.

Ehud Ettun Kontrabass und
Heime Poskoff Drums.
Diese konzertähnliche Session endete mit 2 Beatles Stücken :
Blackbird und Yesterday ……
20 Uhr
war das das Konzert im Kino , welches den Auftakt zum Jazz Festival
,,Jazz on the Edge “ bildete.
Das Konzert begann mit Cinema Paradiso ( Musik Ennio Morricone / Bertolucci Regie) im Duo und das Konzert endete mit der ganzen Band , die Cinema Paradiso spielte.
Das Konzert Programm Salentin’s bestand aus Eigen Kompositionen und sehr fein ausgewählten Stücken wie : my one and only love oder you must believe in Spring.
Ein sehr sehr dankbares Publikum begrüßte die Zugaben.
Anschließen gab es erneut ein Combo Spiel im kleinen Saal nebenan.
So kam es das Salentin als Abschluss seiner Zeit seine eigene Komposition Luca , gespielt von den Studenten hören konnte und damit ging es in die Nacht …….
